HEY TUMBLR.
This thing is at SUNY Geneseo, my school. And that freaks me right the hell out.
From a friend of mine: “…a few people went to speak to him. He’s stating that sexual assault statistics are overblown, and that sexual assault is not an issue in the US and Geneseo. He will be talking about how a woman can tell if a man is a rapist from meeting him. As we state in the petition, we recognize his freedom of speech and he should be allowed to give the talk. But we also believe it is a talk which is irresponsible and to the detriment of the college community, where there are survivors of sexual assaults present. We respect his right to free speech but we respect our right to ask the college to condemn what he is saying and reaffirm its commitment to sexual assault awareness on campus.”
Please tell my school exactly what you think of this. Now I know that, as a school, they can’t actually “condemn” someone’s views. But they can sure-as-peas reaffirm their own stance, which I promise you all, is not shared with this screeching butt-trumpet.
